ABOUT ADAM

Age: 29
Hometown: New York City. NY
Occupation: Partner in Trading Firm

Why did you return?
My only hesitation for doing another show was that I allow my emotions to be pricked and poked until they are at levels that only reality television or actual love can bring them to. However, that can also be part of the fun. This is a dream opportunity without a down side. It is the upside, meeting the right girl, that can change my life.

How do you define average?
X amount of numbers added up and the total divided by X. By television standards, it's a catchy name to represent the everyman. I think they are saying that the chiseled bodies and gorgeous faces previously seen on TV are not reality as they are not the norm. Personally, I don't think there is an average. Everybody is unique in their own way and attraction is not based on looks alone.

What did you learn about the woman you're looking for from your previous Average Joe experience?
The show reinforced the importance of being yourself. As for the woman I am looking for, to start she will want me on the plane with her!

ABOUT THE ORIGINAL SHOWS

NBC’s new unscripted relationship drama “Average Joe,” in which a stunning beauty queen and former NFL cheerleader moves into a multi-million dollar estate in Palm Springs with the expectation that 16 potential Prince Charmings are arriving to win her heart. But when the men arrive, our beauty finds that the handsome princes are actually Average Joes—guys with great hearts, but admittedly average looks, some even describing themselves as nerds and geeks.

Each week, the beauty queen learns more about her suitors during group and individual dates, as she determines which one might be her soul mate. She faces tough decisions as she must eliminate some terrific guys in order to focus her attention on those with whom she has the greatest chemistry. As host and confidant, Griffin offers her humorous take on the behavior and personalities of the men and is on hand to introduce the show’s many twists and turns.

“Average Joe” is a production of NBC Studios. Stuart Krasnow (“America’s Most Talented Kid,” “Dog Eat Dog”) is executive producer, Andrew Glassman is co-executive producer, Jason Raff is supervising producer.

Average Joe: Hawaii with Larissa Meek INTERVIEW WITH LARISSA MEEK

What type of guys do you normally date?
I can’t say physically it’s any one thing, because I’ve dated the gamut. I’ve dated guys that are very athletic to guys that are more intellectual. If anything, they’ve got to be able to carry a conversation. It’s really just about that chemistry that you have with somebody.

How did you get involved with Average Joe?
I believe one of the casting directors was the sister of former Miss USA Ali Landry. I got an email through my website and that’s basically how it all started.

Were you nervous about doing a reality television show?
I was [nervous]. It’s like one of those things that you know going into it that people are going to judge you. You basically open your life up to everybody. I was a little nervous about that. I was even late to the initial interview!

Did you go into the experience thinking it would be a great way to meet someone?
Well, I’d say that at that point in my life I was definitely open to that. I felt like I was lacking love in my life. On the other hand I was thinking, "Who goes on a reality show to meet someone?" Am I really going to meet an amazing guy? I didn’t know.

It worked for Trista & Ryan!
You never know! And certainly, thinking about all the other dating shows that are out there right now, you have a perception of what to expect. Your mind leads you to think that it’s going to be like everything else you’ve seen out there.

How important is physical chemistry when you’re dating someone?
I think it can go both ways. I think there are certainly instances when all you have is physical chemistry with somebody. It’s also something that can grow on you, which I think is definitely the case with some of these guys. Maybe you look at them and they’re guys that wouldn’t normally catch your attention; but, when you get to know them, you start feeling that chemistry.

Average Joe with Melana Scantlin INTERVIEW WITH MELANA

What did you think of the series premiere and how did what viewers saw differ from the experience as you remember it?
I truly believe in the "bigger picture". I know that watching the "Average Joe" experience has made a movement in the hearts of the viewers as it did in mine. I believe people wanted to make fun of the guys and from my facial expressions from the previews, they probably had hoped that I would be mean to them. I was surprised, but not disgusted.

I am beginning to think people today tend to be apathetic, as nothing seems to phase us. However, I think the audience found the premiere to be a nice surprise. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and I can't wait for the bigger picture to come to an end and let the movement of acceptance begin in the hearts of the millions that joined "Average Joe" the first night, because in my opinion, it only gets much better from here.

Mother Theresa often talked of not what you do in your life, but the way you treat people while doing it...Think about that.

What type of guy are you usually attracted to?
I am usually attracted to the guy who walks in and "lights up the room", not by his looks, but by his charm and the way he treats others…with a smile. I have been known to become weak for the singer/songwriter/guitar player as well…

What would you say are your best and worst qualities?
Because I am a creative person, I sometimes lose interest quickly. I am always thinking and multi-tasking and people may think that I am not paying attention, but I really am. My attitude toward life serves as my greatest tool and I would consider it my greatest quality.

Name something that people would be surprised to know about you.
People would be surprised to know that I write incessantly and have since the 5th grade. My favorite piece: "Writing frees the mind of stirring emotion and settles on paper where thoughts can rest." It is funny how my writing will sometimes plant itself on paper before I can even comprehend the content of what my hand is scribbling!
